Parish Council precept remains unchanged for 2025
At its meeting on 14 January 2025, East Bedlington Parish Council has resolved not to increase the Parish Precept for 2025-2026.
As part of this process, East Bedlington Parish Council regrets to announce the cancellation of Gallagher Park Live, the annual music event that has brought entertainment to our community for 7 years. This decision was not made lightly, as we deeply value the joy and cultural connection this event has provided, but this event is increasingly more expensive to hold and absorbs a significant portion of our annual budget.
Considering growing community needs, the Council has decided that the money could be better spent. The funds previously allocated for Gallagher Park Live will be allocated to support the development and enhancement of the East Bedlington Community Centre. This vital hub serves as a cornerstone for education, recreation, entertainment, and social inclusion in our area.
“We recognise the significant impact Gallagher Park Live has had on our community,” said Parish Council Chairman, Keith Grimes. “However, by reinvesting these resources into our Community Centre, we can create long-lasting opportunities that benefit a broader segment of our population all year-round.”
The redirection of funds will enable critical improvements to the East Bedlington Community Centre, including:
• Expanded programming for youth groups, older people, and families.
• Updated facilities to accommodate greater accessibility.
• New initiatives aimed at fostering community engagement and connection.
While we say goodbye to Gallagher Park Live, we look forward to collaborating with residents to create new cultural and recreational opportunities that reflect our shared values and priorities.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the artists, attendees, volunteers, and sponsors who have made Gallagher Park Live a cherished tradition. Your support has been invaluable, and we hope you will join us in this new chapter for our community.
